Spanning performance, writing, installation and sound, Tyler Coburn’s artwork measures the horizons of contemporary technology, in part, by uncovering hidden genealogies and imagining alternative futures. For this talk, Coburn will discuss three projects, I’m that angel (2012—), Waste Management (2013-2015) and Where 5 / A Wide Blank (2014-2015), which respectively engage digital labor and the physical Internet; electronic waste; and the logistics of online art spectatorship.

Tyler Coburn is an artist and writer based in New York. Coburn’s writing has appeared in frieze, e-flux journal, Dis, Mousse, Art-Agenda andRhizome, among others.  His performances, sound works and installations have been presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; South London Gallery; Kunstverein Munich; CCA Glasgow; Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerp; LAXART, Los Angeles; and SculptureCenter, New York.
