Shadow Drawings, Trick Films and Science Fictions

Tonight the EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam is focusing a retrospective program on the head of The Piet Zwart Media Design Program: Simon Pummell.
A screening of several of Simon Pummell’s early short animations will be followed by the screening of his latest feature film Identicals. The screening marks the acquisition by the EYE Film Museum of his working archive and film negatives and prints.
As part of the short film program he will also be in conversation with Patricia Pisters, Professor of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, about the links between animation and science fiction, and the relationship between experimental and genre cinema.
