Master Fine Art Curriculum at a glance

This is the outline for individual elements that comprise each component of the curriculum per year:

Year 1
Studio Research and Practice
• Self-directed research and practice
• Individual and group tutorials
• Independent critical and contextual research; self-organized initiatives
• Produce studio presentation for first integrated assessment (Self-Evaluation)
Analysis of Practice-Group Critiques
• Self-organize 2 group critiques and submit two group critique reports
• Attend 12 additional group critiques
• Moderate 1 group critique for a fellow student
Methods
• Attendance at all sessions and participation in associated workshops
• Specific learning outcomes, assignments, and modes of assessment are determined by the leading tutors
• Production of Essay on Method for Y1 Assessment
Thematic Projects and Seminars
• Attendance and participation in thematic projects and seminars.
• Specific learning outcomes, assignments, and modes of assessment for each thematic project and seminar are determined by the leading tutor

Year 2
Graduate Research and Practice (Proposal Phase)
• Self-directed research and practice
• Individual and group tutorials, including with supervising tutors
• Independent critical and contextual research; self-organized initiatives
• Produce graduate research proposal for Proposal Seminar
Analysis of Practice-Group Critiques
• Self-organize 2 group critiques and write two group critique reports
• Attend 12 additional group critiques
• Moderate 1 group critique for a fellow student
Graduate Research and Practice (Project and Completion Phases)
• Self-directed research and practice
• Individual and group tutorials, including with supervising tutors
• Production of work for graduate exhibition
• Production of 8000 word text to accompany work for graduate exhibition
Thematic Projects and Seminars
• Attendance and participation in thematic projects and seminars.
