The Master of Education in Arts welcomes enthusiastic and engaged educators/practitioners in the field of vocational, secondary and higher art/design education, museum educators and artists and designers with an interest in experimental participatory, pedagogical practices.
We admit cultural practitioners working in institutional environments (schools, academies, museums), as well as outside, in more public, informal settings (workshops, labs, et cetera). In our opinion, in these kind of collaborations and exchanges, the education of the future will take shape. The relation between practice and theory is a central feature of the program: students test, design and experiment with pedagogical models and tactics as much as research, or read about it.
The program focuses on pivotal contemporary developments and issues in art/design education, including: critical pedagogy, education theory and philosophy, critical making, interdisciplinarity (STEAM education), maker education, museum education and participatory/collaborative practices. This also involves engaging with pivotal topics that mark our current condition like cultural diversity and sustainability/climate crisis.
