Clare Butcher (Harare, Zimbabwe) is a teacher, curator and cook. Clare completed her Masters at the Centre for Curating the Archive (University of Cape Town), during which time she also initiated and ran the pilot Annex Residency Programme in collaboration with the South African National Gallery. Before that, she made several exhibitions in various places and survived the de Appel Curatorial Programme in Amsterdam from 2008-9. Her best education was working at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven where she ran the Yourspace programme, co-edited several publications and helped lead The Autonomy Project. Clare is a member of the School of Missing Studies (Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam). At the Piet Zwart Institute she is tutor of the Reading, Writing and Research Seminar.
