PHD Research and Writing for MA Lens-Based Media, BA Theory & Honours Programs
Vivian Sky Rehberg is a Senior Research Lecturer at the Willem de Kooning Academy, attached to the WdKA Research Center, and an associate of the Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab. She has spent the past two-decades in international higher art education, in combined teaching and leadership roles. As an art writer, researcher, and educator, Vivian’s work has been shaped by lifelong encounters with artists and creative practitioners alongside the interdisciplinary study of modern and contemporary art.
You’ll find Vivian’s art writing in the archives of existing and defunct magazines and online platforms (including Artforum, Art Agenda, Mousse, A Prior, e-flux criticism, and frieze, where she was a contributing editor for over a decade), and between the covers of artist monographs, exhibition catalogues, and anthologies.
Vivian’s current research focuses on relationships between art, the psyche, education, and wellbeing. This research departs from her participation in the WdKA Research Center’s “Promiscuous Care Study Group” (2001-2004), and seeks writerly form in a new project provisionally titled “Toward an Aesthetic Education.” In addition to offering research and writing support on the Lens-Based media program, Vivian teaches on the WdKA Bachelor programs, for the department of Theory of Art, Design and Culture, and the Honours program.
