Willem de Kooning Academy Hogeschool Rotterdam is pleased to announce the appointment of Vanessa Ohlraun as Course Director of the MA Fine Art programme at WdKA's Piet Zwart Institute as successor to Anke Bangma.

Vanessa Ohlraun: international scope
Vanessa Ohlraun studied Art History, Cultural Anthropology and Gender Studies at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, the Free University and the Humboldt University in Berlin. Vanessa Ohlraun held the position of Cultural Attaché at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, where since 2000 she has been responsible for conceiving, developing and implementing a comprehensive cultural programme promoting Canada's visual arts, film and new media abroad. Since 2006, Vanessa Ohlraun has also been co-director and curator of the independent art space 'Center' in Berlin. She has just completed a curatorial residency at 'Witte de With – Center for Contemporary Art' in Rotterdam, providing her with a deeper insight into the Dutch contemporary art scene. Vanessa Ohlraun is a member of the International Association of Curators, IKT.

Vanessa Ohlraun comes to the Piet Zwart Institute with a wide-ranging network of contacts in the international art scene, and will expand and strengthen the national and international ties of this institute. With her extensive experience in public relations, she will work on raising the profile and increasing the visibility of the MA Fine Art programme at the Piet Zwart Institute.
