Writer and translator Kate Briggs will speak about two works-in-progress: Story the Story in It, an ongoing inquiry into reading and its relationship to writing, and her project to re-translate Emile Zola’s The Experimental Novel. She will also read from On Translation and Table-Making, an essay on Robinson Crusoe and the practice of translation.

Kate Briggs most recently published Small Hand (a paper-size poem) in Convolution, and has new writing forthcoming in Amodern (in a special issue on reading the illegible) and L’Esprit Créateur (on practicing with Roland Barthes). She is a writing tutor on the Master of Fine Art at the Piet Zwart Institute and also teaches on the MA in Cultural Translation at the American University of Paris.
