Hereby the Master of Education in Arts of the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, warmly invites you to take part in the workshop Embodiment, Activism, and the Arts. This experiential workshop delves into the intricate interplay between the body, activism, and artistic expression, offering a platform for personal exploration and professional growth. Led by Rae Johnson, a seasoned scholar/activist and creative arts therapist, this 3-hour session is designed to empower emerging artists with the theoretical frameworks and practical tools needed to leverage their craft for social change.

Through a blend of embodied exercises, interactive discussions, and artistic collaboration, participants will discover the ways in which movement, gesture, and expression can communicate messages that transcend language. From there, we will explore how our embodied interactions with others shape how we experience the art-making process and delve into the deep impact of personal expression on collective transformation. Together, we will unwind the dynamic relationship between embodiment and activism within the realms of art-making and arts education. Emerge from this immersive experience equipped with a profound understanding of the symbiotic relationship between embodiment, activism, and the arts. Whether you aspire to become an influential artist-activist or wish to infuse your artistic and education practice with newfound purpose, this workshop will empower you to create transformative art that reverberates far beyond the canvas.

Refreshments will be provided.
