Exchange

As an arts school, WdKA has an international appeal. This results in increasing numers of foreign students that consider to come over to study here.

WdKA has long been a favourite among students of partner schools in WdKA’s extended international network that want to participate in an exchange programme – studying here for a couple of months. Nowadays, ever more students from abroad choose to take a full 4-year Bachelor course here. And of course, quite many participants of our Master courses come from abroad.

WdKA welcomes all of you. Its International Affairs Office (mr. Ad Borstlap & mrs. Cora Santjer) tries to help you in settling down here. In order to better serve potential international students and other people interested, it recently set up a special ‘exchange blog’. It contains information that may provide answers to frequently asked questions – on studying here, on WdKA’s admission procedures, on Rotterdam as an attractive place to study, and about The Netherlands and its culture.

The exchange blog also links to related relevant website by third parties. The exchange blog is to be found here.

This Fall, another 40 students from various countries all over the world participate in WdKA’s exchange programme to study here. They come from art schools that are partners in WdKA’s extensive international network. To mark their arrival, WdKA is organizing a festive reception to introduce them to our academy. Just like on previous occasions, exchange students can meet with each other and with students and staff of WdKA. Information is being provided on the special course on Dutch that exchange students may take, on the lecture ‘Dutch Art & Design’ by Erna Flokstra, on the extra optional modules, and on the JIP Budget Guide.

WdKA wishes all guest students from abroad a happy and fruitful stay at WdKA and in Rotterdam!

This Fall Willem de Kooning Academy hosts 39 foreign students from art schools across the globe – partners in WdKA's extensive international network.

These students, now here for an exchange projects, were officially welcomed on September 11, 2007.

We interviewed two of them: Cédric Paquotte from Geneva/Switzerland, and Jordi Ferrando from Barcelona/Spain. Earlier this summer we spoke with Sayaka Yorio from Tokyo/Japan – after having finished her exchange project here this Spring she decided not to go back to Japan, but to continue studying at WdKA…

Many of the participants of the MA courses at WdKA's Piet Zwart Institute come from abroad. This goes as well for art historian Vanessa Ohlraun from Berlin/Germany: as of September 1, 2007 she is the new 'course director' of PZI's MA Fine Art.
